25 Days of Christmas Movies Day 14: Mr. Napkinhead.

Before I begin, YES I did see The Hobbit last night and I LOVED it. If you so desire (tell me so in the comments) I will post a review of it later today....otherwise I'll just keep chugging along with the Christmas movies uninterrupted. Just let me know :)

LAST MOVIE WATCHED: The Holiday
TO WATCH OR NOT TO WATCH: This is not a great movie. It's not. But I love it. That miiiiiight have something to do with the movie trailer spoofs and also the fact that Jude Law is insanely and unbelievably attractive here. (Seriously Cameron Diaz's character has THE LIFE!!) This film falls into the category of being set during Christmas and not being ABOUT Christmas...so really you can watch it anytime (so no, it's not a Christmas necessity.) The film is an enjoyable rom com that benefits greatly from Kate Winslet's performance (despite not being able to drum up chemistry with Jack Black...which is understandable, even as amiable he may be.). Though fluffy, it has a few moments of real truth that I very much appreciate.
EMILY RATING: 7.8/10
UP NEXT:Home Alone

Agreed. It's not a great movie, and yet I love it! One that I can watch over and over. My favorite part is Arthur. He is adorable and I cry every time he walks in and sees all those people. And Jude is very very attractive.

I know. It's imminently watchable somehow...oh, except for Cameron Diaz and her skanky relationship with Jude Law. But who can blame her, right?> ;) Her character is a little too frantic for me.

The Arthur storyline is my favorite and Kate Winslet has great chemistry with Eli Wallach. Go figure.

A lot of wisdom in her storyline.

And Cameron Diaz's house wins for one of the best, most envy producing fantasy house in La La land ever!!!! And, yes, I could spend a vacation in that little cottage. Happily.

Hahaha the storyline with Jude Law is my favorite one ;) Haha but anyway I do love Kate Winslet's character. Her speeches on the pain of unrequited love I relate to all too well.

You should be the leading lady in your own life.

I know, I love that line :)

Hey! I posted on this and my comment isn't here! I wonder what happened. Anyway, here's the gist of what I said earlier:

How can you say that Jack Black and Kate Winslet didn't have any chemistry? That picture that you posted above just oozes with chemistry...just kidding! Yeah, they had no chemistry. Plus, you're right, I have never seen Jude Law look better. I also greatly enjoy the movie preview spoofs.

Jack Black is brilliant, but he's an acquired taste. I imagine he's a challenge to do a movie with, too. I always wonder how much of his dialog is improvised. I'm not sure, as a director, whether I'd dare turn him loose the way I would Robin Williams.

My wife and I have seen this one a couple of times, and it's fun. Not great, but I watch this kind of movie to be with her, which makes it great for me. Kate Winslet steals the show.

Another movie in this category (which I think is better) is The Family Stone.

Howard, I love The Family Stone, but my kids hate it. I think it makes me feel better about the dysfunction in my own life. :)

We watched The Family Stone again the other night. I think I like it better each time I see it. Tell your kids I said to just keep watching it until they like it. Bwahahahaha!
