Liebster - Whatster?

Okay....I'm gonna make this intro SHORT and SWEET....and basically link back to Amelia's post HERE and Courtney's post HERE.

Basically.....I got roped into the equivalent of a chain email, but was asked to post it on my blog :) It's called the Liebster award. And if you want the deets click on one of the links above. But here are the rules if you're too lazy.

Each person awarded must post 11 facts about themselves.
Answer the 11 questions the nominator has set for them.
Choose five bloggers to nominate.
Create 11 more questions for the bloggers they will nominate.
Let the lucky bloggers know.

Here's what I'm changing.... other than the questions Amelia posed, all of mine are movie-related... AND I'm not nominating anyone. Everyone who I would nominate is a family member with a personal blog, or just a follower of the blog. So....if you want to do a post like this on your blog, feel free :) If that's too much hassle You can just answer my questions for you in the comments below. But on to the post!

11 Facts about yours truly

1. The earliest film going experience I can remember would be going to see The Little Mermaid during its release. I mostly remember walking out of the theater and feeling excited.

2. Speaking of The Little Mermaid, every time I got into a pool when I was little I couldn't resist doing the hair flip when coming out of the water....I still even do it to this day sometimes :)

3. When I was a child, I had a very active imagination...and always was pretending I was in a movie. In fact, I pretty much wanted to be an actress up until elementary/junior high.

4. Better Off Dead, A Christmas Story and Raising Arizona were movies that were watched annually or more in the Mackay household...all of which took me years to appreciate the humor.

5. One of my favorites as a kid was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Sometimes I would rewind it and watch it 2-3 times in a row.

6. I was always secretly happy whenever I was sick at the same time as my brother Sean because we'd stay home and watch Disney movies on the couch all day.

7. My favorite Disney movie is The Sword in the Stone

8. I saw Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith TEN times in theaters (still my personal record)

9. One of the factors that lead me to becoming an editor, was a special feature on the Episode III DVD that examined a certain scene over and over and showed the contribution of each job in the filmmaking process. I knew I wanted in on creating magic...and editing seemed particularly special.

10. Once upon a time I could do a pretty decent Tony Curtis as well as Alan Rickman impression....random I know! But Sarah will verify this :)

11. My brain is a movie quote database....but not as filled with as much stuff as my brother Clayton's.

11 Questions from Amelia.

1. If I gave you a plane ticket right now where would you go? EUROPE. Undoubtedly. Paris first and then I'd travel the whole continent for a year....if you gave me endless monies as well that is!

2. What is your dream job? A week ago I'd have said working for Lucasfilm on the rumored Star Wars t.v. series...but now I'll say working for DISNEY/LUCASFILM on the next star wars MOVIES. Yeah....that's the dream.

3. What is the craziest fashion trend or look you’ve ever tried? I don't know that i've ever done anything CRAZY...probably just boring and ugly in the early to mid 2000's. I was kind of into that ugly peasant look....not my finest style choice.

4. What was your favorite childhood birthday? Probably when I got a My Twinn doll. I was looking forward to that like CRAZY back in the day.

5. If you could pick one dish that you could make perfectly every time, what would you choose? Stealing this from Courtney, but macarons! Not a dish...but if I could make that I'd be pretty happy.

6. If you had to pick the life of a fictional character (be they movie/book/tv etc.), who would you be? Hmm... I'd say Elizabeth Bennet or Emma Woodhouse have it pretty good. Or maybe Princess Leia so I could live in the Star Wars Universe and be married to Han Solo (...but then I would have had to kiss my brother....so....nevermind...) Maybe Pam on the office since she's married to Jim....but she works in an office so..... Cameron Diaz from the Holiday. Trailer editor and Jude Law as a love interest. DONE.

7. If you could pick any subject to be an expert on what would it be? Film of course! (Even though I already am....haha just kidding!) Either that or French.

8. What’s your favorite thing about yourself? Physically? My eyes. Personality wise.... my humor!

9. What is your favorite thing to do when you're stuck home alone? Watch a movie or blog! Or....plan a pretend trip to Europe.

10. What song can you not resist dancing to? Right now? Gangnam Style....I know it's 15 minutes are close to being up....but it's got SUCH a great beat.

11. If you could make a movie what would it be? No need to give a whole plot, just give us a title, lead actors, and tagline, and we can fill in the blanks. A sequel to (500) Days of Summer, starring me and JGL where it finally works out. Look for a movie poster of this when I do my post on fake movies ;)

I guess you want me to answer the questions, so...ok!

1- WAY too hard. I always base this off which movies i can watch over and over, so maybe a tie between Meet the Robinsons, Emperor's New Groove and Mr. Mom.
2- Schindler's List - not because it's not well-made but because it made me sick.
3- Fictional life... Frances Stevens (Grace Kelly's character) in To Catch a Thief.
4- "Keep moving forward." From Meet the Robinsons.
5- Director...hard choice. Alfred Hitchcock, also Chris Nolan and Steven Spielberg.
6- Least favorite Actor: Robert Pattinson - a Joke!; Actress: Always disliked Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore. Oh, but Halle Berry is the worst.
7- Best Actor: Robert Downey, Jr. (or Daniel Craig); Best Actress: Always Maggie Smith, but younger I like Anne Hathaway, I also like Julia Stiles but I don't know what happened to her. Not fond of many actresses.
8- Best Actor of all time: Cary Grant (or Jimmy Stewart) Best Actress of all time: Grace Kelly (or Ingrid Bergman).
9- Any of the Disney prodigies (Lohan, Lovato, etc.) - and Justin Bieber.
10- Emma Watson
11- Hm...Cinderella. :)

Seinfeld is a good answer. I will concur.

My husband threatened to loose respect for me permanently if he heard me singing, listening to, or even pretending to sing or listen to Gangnam Style. Yeah the beat is just so catchy and it's got it's own dance! Yeah, not my most flattering guilty pleasure.

1. 80s teen movies.
2. From Justin to Kelly (Sorry Kelly)
3. Nancy Drew. Before you hate, think about it: Smart, gets to travel, life of adventure, has a loyal group of friends, never seems to worry about money, constantly told she is beautiful, and always has a boyfriend WHEN she wants it. If a cute Hardy boy happens to wander into town they are always on a mysteriously amicable break. What a life.
4. Eek this is hard for me. But most used would probably be something from That Thing You Do or Swan Princess. Hahaha.
5. Spielberg, Joss Whedon, or John Hughes
6. Megan Fox maybe?
7. Ok not the best but my favorite.. James Franco/Ryan Gosling (hehe) and best actress... eh I think Marion Cotillard's always classy? This is hard cause what I love most is the cheesy and fun. Best is too much pressure haha.
8. Something in the Hepburn/Becall/Kelly range perhaps.
9. Lindsay Lohan's parents or Joe Francis
10. Anna Paquin/Anne Hathaway/Rachel McAdams
11. Right now Mindy Project! But is that just because I'm obsessed with that show...?

1. Ben Hur, but you knew that!
2. Nothing But Trouble with Chevy Chase & Dan Ackroyd. I begged Dad to walk out.
3. Jo March and I would finally marry Teddy. If not that, then Rose from 8 Cousins. Sarah read the book and she would support that decision.
4. Too, too many. But I really like "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
5. William Wyler. Never saw a bad film he directed and he did some amazing ones!
6. Angelina Jolie
7. Meryl Streep. Who can compare? She can do it all.
8. Cary Grant is my dreamboat and he's funny to boot. But also Jimmy Stewart, young...hmmmm....He was so versatile!
9. Barack Obama
10. Andie McDowell. I don't know why.
11. Peggy Sue Got Married

1. What is your very favorite movie of all time? Or if that's too hard pick a movie per/genre. Too hard. I would say my favorite genre is romantic comedies (done best in the 50's and 60's).
2. What's the worst movie you have ever seen? I've seen a lot of terrible movies--a lot that came out in the 70's and 80's were pretty awful. One that comes to mind is "Once Bitten" with Jim Carrey and Lauren Hutton. Barf.
3. If you could have the life of a fictional character who would YOU choose? Anne Shirley of "Anne of Green Gables"
4. What is your all-time favorite movie quote? That's too hard to choose. But we tend to quote a lot from the movie "Clue" in our house. Most notably, "Get off me!" and "Flames! Flames on the side of my face..."
5. Who is your favorite director? Again, that's too hard for me to choose.
6. Who is your least favorite actor and/or actress working today? I can't think of any right now. I'll have to get back to you on that.
7. Who are the best actor and actress working today? I think there are a lot of talented ones these days. But just one actor and one actress that stands out as the best? I can't think of one.
8. Who is the best actor and actress of all time? Too many to pick from.
9. If you could pick anyone in the world to stop being famous who would you pick? Kim Kardashian.
10. Who would you pick to play you in a movie? Kim Kardashian. Ha ha! Just kidding! Wouldn't every brunette woman pick Audrey Hepburn? :)
11. What movie or character do you most identify with your life? Gone With the Wind/Scarlett O'Hara. I am not as ruthless as Scarlett O'Hara (at least I hope!), but I like to hope that I am a survivor like she is and I have definitely seen my share of drama a la Gone with the Wind in my lifetime!

Johanna said...

Sarah, you are more Melanie than Scarlett. She, too, was a survivor and strong as steel but as good as any character ever was.

And, of course you would pick Anne Shirley!
